Black glass and espresso-finished wood veneer always make a classy and chic combination and the Bell'O AVSC-9870 TV Stand is no exception. With its plain and straight lines and sharp corners, it fully complements the high-technology audiovisual entertainment system it is designed to carry.
Measuring 66 inches wide, 16.75 deep, and 22.5 high, the TV stand is a large piece of furniture. It is rather heavy at almost 150 pounds. These measurements, however, are necessary as it is intended to support the weight of large flat panel TVs including 65-inch plasmas or LCDs and even 73-inch DLPs. Indeed, the top shelf alone can carry a load of up to 200 pounds.
The AVSC-9870 stands on two wood supports on its sides. These, along with a panel mounted on the rear central section, are finished in a rich and elegant espresso. The top tempered glass shelf does not directly rest on the wood supports, but on metal columns embedded into the wood.
A second glass shelf is suspended from the top via four metal columns that matches those connecting the wood stands and the top shelf. The second shelf does not run the entire width of the TV stand. While it has the same depth as the top, it is only 40 inches wide with a load capacity of 50 pounds. It is 7.5 inches from the top and thus can hold a cable converter box, digital video recorder, or set of extra speakers.
The bottom shelf is attached to the wood stands with a usable width of 57 inches. This provides enough room for a Blu-ray disc player, PlayStation or Xbox, amplifier, or any other audiovisual device that enhances your viewing experience. From the middle shelf, there is a space of about 10 inches.
The rear panel incorporates slots and interior channels for the passage and organization of connecting cables and wires, making them look neat and tidy. Although interconnection among the different components of your home theater system may be done wirelessly, electricity still needs power cords.
