The black steel constitutes the TV stand's frame. It is powder coated with black enamel that gives it a deep sheen and, perhaps more importantly, keeps scratches, rust, and corrosion at bay. The frame supports two tempered glass shelves. It runs along their entire lengths, allowing them to carry the weight of audio visual equipment such as a Blu-ray disc player, computer game console, MP3 player dock, an enhanced speaker system, adapters, or other peripherals. There is also enough room for your collection of Blu-ray discs as well as your 3D active glasses.
The shelves measure 48" W x 16" D with convex sides softening the sharp corners and rigidly straight lines. Each shelf can carry as much as 50 pounds. They are spaced apart from each other at 11.75 inches.
In addition to the horizontal sections of the frame supporting the shelves, the frame extends vertically up to 52 inches.
