Created by the award-winning Egyptian industrial designer Karim Rashid, the Omni Plus Prism TV Stand is a modern furniture that breaks away from the usual layout and finish of TV stands.
While most TV stands come with boxy outlines, the Rashid stand is in the shape of a triangular prism with its pointed tip cut off. Growing up in Cairo, the famed designer very likely spent a lot of time among the Pyramids of Giza, which eventually became an inspiration for his innovative design.
A single shelf divides the prism into two, but the base serves as a second shelf. Your Blu-ray disc player, game console, TV cable box, extra speakers, or other audiovisual device can be installed on the upper shelf. The lower shelf, or base, can take your DVD collection, remote controls, joystick, or 3D glasses. As this is close to the floor, it might be a good idea to keep them in closed bins or containers to protect them from dust.
The stand has an open front, allowing air to flow into the shelves cooling your audiovisual devices. The upper shelf, finished in walnut, is adorned with decorative molding. The molding is coated with the same bright green paint that colors the main body of the TV stand. The rear panel, on the other hand, is colored black. It incorporates a cable management system that keeps the unsightly wires connecting your equipment with each other from view.
The stand's top, having a width of 50 inches, can support flat panel TVs with screen sizes of up to 50 inches measured diagonally, as long as its weight does not exceed 150 lbs. The middle shelf, for its part, can hold up to 40 lbs.
Measurements of the Omni Plus Prism Green TV Stand at its base are 59" W x 20" D. These are reduced to 50" W x 15" at the top. Height is 17.5 inches.
